History of the Reading Lions Club
Reading Lions Club was chartered on April 20, 1938 and since then it has become an integral part of Reading community to help and serve to those who are less fortunate. We help where help is needed starting from our community and beyond with unmatched dedication, integrity and energy. We make friends everywhere we work including children who may need help due to vision or hearing impairment, illnesses and disabilities. Sometime we help people whom we never meet. Our mission is to “serve” which we do wholeheartedly.
Reading Lions Club sincerely thanks the fund-raiser/donors for their generosity and support. You have made a difference in people's lives. Over the last five years, the Reading Lions Club has donated more than $ 95,000 to various needy charities. Your participation in our Golf Tournament, Wreath Sale, Road Race, Casino Bus Trips and/or Reading Day has made this possible.
We believe that it's very important for you to understand how your support has translated into making a difference in people's lives. Over the last five years, the Reading Lions Club has donated generously to the following:
Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund (MLERF; Mass. Eye & Ear, Joslin Diabetics Center, Tufts Eye Center, Children’s Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital etc.)
Visual Aids for the Vision Impaired, (We support local families with computer aided devices for reading, watching TV, writing checks etc.)
Local Food Pantry
Scholarships to Reading High School Seniors going to Collage
Local Assistance including Camp Sunshine for terminally ill children, Elder Services and Adopt-a-Family for Christmas and Thanksgiving
Lions Local and International Charities, (Hurricane Katrina Relief, Tsunami Relief, 3rd World Eye Care, Lions Clubs International Foundation, Clinics)
Our ability to make these significant donations to less fortunate is a direct result of your generosity and support and therefore thank you.
